Yes, I realize that this is not a BBS. The name 'DestinyBBS' has evolved from my former BBS, which I took offline in April of 1999 due to a lack of a userbase. Other BBSes I had frequented were either shut down or had migrated to a quasi-local-but-internet-telnettable existence. I'm not a fan of taking a BBS, which I believe to be a local resource to be used and appreciated by people in your community, and linking it to the universe via the internet. My opinion, and nothing else.

But, I had put alot of time into creating a web presence for DestinyBBS. Since there's not any reason to support by BBS through the WWW, I began to come up with this idea of originating a web portal (an entirely WWW originated technology), using some webspace I had acquired for DestinyBBS, using it as my own personal portal by linking to stuff I like, and leaving it open for other users as well.

As for the future of this portal, it lies with you and your friends. I have a lot of things lined up, including free e-mail, a free newsfeed, search engine, chat, an HTTP-created BBS, and who knows what else.

Until I add a web-BBS, this portal's name is a bit of a misnomer. I left it in place in memory of the BBS, and for my own purposes. If you have any ideas or suggesions, or if there is anything you'd like to contribute, please email me. The more people like you use this system, the longer it will be around, providing you the online services that too many people go to Yahoo or Lycos for. I'm not out for money, and I'm not spending any money on this portal. It's here for me, it's here for you, and the more 'you's that there are, the merrier a place this will be.
